Talkin' Baseball

I've had this wood lathe for months.
Finally got around to making something with it.
My good friend Blinky came by the house
last night, and after building a nice fire, we proceeded
to drink heavily and operate dangerous machinery.

A few hours (and beers) later,
I had my very own homemade baseball bat.

1 1/2" handle, 3 3/4"  barrel, weighs about 6 lb.
 Obnoxiously large.
Thanks to Blinky for the pictures and Shiner Bock.
I had a blast, dude.Next time you come down,
we'll make a Texas Size bowling pin.

Making Sawdust...

This Telecaster clone is coming along nicely

I'm building it for a friend of mine.
He runs his own saw mill, and gave me a
ton of material, even trued it up in his shop.
Made it all nice and flat and ready to work. In
return, he wants me to build him a Telecaster.

We picked out a nice piece of walnut for the body,
and some cherry wood to make the top.

He told me he likes the sound of a Gibson 330,
and mentioned country twang, so I decided to
make this a half standard - half hollow Tele.

It will have the standard single coil at the bridge,
and the traditional'lipstick tube' pickup at the neck,
with standard Tele controls.

A Work In Progress...

 This blog,
 much like this guitar,
 is Under Construction.

But you can check back every few days to see the progress...
Happy Thanksgiving.
